The importance of having a computer in college

posted on 17 April 2011

When I was in high school, my computer did not have much to do with academic programs. I remember the only thing that made me install the Microsoft office package was the numerous assignments that I had to type in word. If it were not for assignments and papers that needed be handed in, I would not have had it installed. The reason why it is still installed is because the work load increases when someone goes to college. I have to type assignments of different classes ever week and the one thing that is filling my disc space is school documents and notes. There are lecturers who give their notes in the form of the PDF format and that is when I got the answer to my question do i need adobe reader on my computer. It is impossible to read notes in the PDF format without the help of adobe reader. Installation is never complete until the machine is restarted after the installation is complete. If this is not done, then using the adobe reader will not be possible.

The Humble Pin Diode is a Great Example of Technology

posted on 11 April 2011

Most of us - including me - haven't got a clue how most of the electronic devices we use everyday actually work - we just know how to turn them on and use them as an end-user. And long may that last, because when I went on an electronics course, I was both humbled, and in awe of, the inventions humanity has created over the last few decades. From the small pin diode that acts as a voltage limiter to microchip design that can create billions of fetch / execute cycles per second, it's the inventors of this technology who should have bronze statues in their respective home towns and be remembered as the people who made our lives that much easier and more convenient. The only downside to high-tech is that when things break, we simply don't know how to fix them - e.g. most cars these days have a computer system, and so a lot of problems with these mean the car needs to be returned to the manufacturer rather than get a local mechanic to fix it.

The value of music when you are trying to block out surrounding noise

posted on 11 February 2011

My parents used to wonder why I was always listening to music even when I was not supposed to. When I am in my room, I would put my music of full volume and then lock my door and do my own things, even do my work from school. The quality of my home work was good, it was never affected by music in any way. When in the dining room, having meals with my family, I would put on my Headphones and block out everything, this was also the case in the car when we were driven to school or even to family outings. This is because my parents were always bickering and fighting about everything, something that used to affect me a lot. This affected my older brother too in to he even had to get his own place and he was allowed because he was older and I had to stay with my fighting parents. Since my brother could move out with me, he noticed that I dealt with the constant fighting of my parents by listening to music and because of that, he got me headphones to block out the noise.

The Easiest Way to Save Money and Live a Healthier Life

posted on 11 February 2011

Money plays a pivotal role in every human being's life. It is always smart to save money for future security, rather than spending everything in the present time. Life can be enjoyed in a smart way by spending less and enjoy more so that you can build up savings for unpredictable expenses. I follow a systematic budget plan made by me and execute it efficiently. I believe more in walking instead of driving a car which saves my travelling expenses. Walking keeps me fit and active and I don't need to join a gym too. Secondly, I always prefer to carry a lunch box and water bottle which keeps me healthy and also saves a huge amount of cash. When it comes to shopping, I refrain from buying unnecessary products and pick those that are only essential to me. Finally, I found my cheapest gas and electricity suppliers by doing an online search for them and switch to them (I simple entered cheap gas Loughborough to find my gas supplier - you can make a similar search yourself).

Wireless Television as an Early Christmas Gift

posted on 27 December 2010

My daughter and husband are fond of watching television and as an early Christmas gift for them, I just bought them a wireless TV. This is quite an expensive purchase but I do not mind spending a substantial portion of my hard earned cash for it because I know that my family will be glad to have it. I am planning to tell them about the gift later a few days before Christmas, but I would like to learn how to setup the tv first before I let them know about it. I will have it ready and show it to them when all its connections are fixed. I am still in the process of learning how to connect pc to tv wireless. Both of them are fond of surfing the internet, as well, and they will be glad to know that they can watch Youtube videos from a wider screen. I am too excited to have all of these done. I am certain that this is going to be their favorite Christmas present this year.

Having trouble using my iphone as a router

posted on 9 November 2010

I am having a lot of trouble trying to get my iphone to work as a router for me. I know i can just use the net on the iphone but i would rather use it on my laptop if at all possible. I always have it with me and it has all my links and stuff on so would making working on the train home a lot easier. I do not own a mobile broadband dongle so that is not an option but i would have thought i could turn my iphone into a mobile router and connect to that via wifi for example. I tried googling how to connect internet from iphone to laptop but it was only results on connecting up to i tunes which i do not want to do. My friend said he has done it with his before but i cannot figure it out. I am wondering if it is an app that he is using perhaps to do this. I cannot see any reason why it isn't possible all the tech is there.

Stacy Is Now Using Office Outlook 2007

posted on 7 November 2010

Lee is one of those nerds from high school who knows more about computers than the teachers themselves. He was well liked all throughout high school and proceeded to college taking up Bachelor Of Science In Computer Science and graduated with flying colors. Having him around the house is certainly helpful especially when quite a lot of us in the house are totally clueless when it comes to computers, networking and the internet. He helped out Stacy when she said, &ldquoi forgot my microsoft outlook password&rdquo. He was the only one who managed to ask all the right questions that lead to him finding out the right solution to the issue. Stacy is using Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 after doing an upgrade from Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and is still adjusting to the new interface of the program and would often run into problems not just with Outlook. She has been using Office 2003 for many years now and she has gotten very adjusted to it but change is needed and she has to upgrade to Office 2007.

indeed time is not permanent, it would pass before you know it

posted on 13 September 2010

when we live in a surrounding with people of our financial and economical status, we learn to worry about trivial things that are not even all that important. we are brought up in such a way that suddenly we start fretting over small things like why is my pair of sandals not matching my dress or why cant i transfer music from my ipod to itunes. someone needs to give us a reality check telling us that there is noway that we can stop the time, it will keep on passing. there is no reason to keep perfecting the little details in our life and make the life comfortable for yourself as it is not permanent and you do not even know when it will be taken away from you. when I was reading about the tragic air blue plane crash on the internet, the realization hit me that in a moment the life that you worked on so much on can be no more and your world and the worlds of those near and dear to you can completely change in an instant. knowing this we yet waste the little time we have on earth worrying about trivial things. one needs to step outside their little world and experience the worlds of the less fortunate ones to realize that they are still better off.
