Still using my maiden name on my passport

On my current passport i still have my maiden name, now this has never caused me any problems but i think it is about to because i am travelling soon and the tickets have been booked in my married name and not my maiden one. I have been told this may cause me trouble and especially as we are going to the states i am very very worried. The passport airline ticket name match i have been told, i am not able to now change the name on the ticket so i want to get the passport sorted out and in the right name. I have picked up the app forms and everything i need but i am a little unsure on the whole process of applying. I think i have put together the right forms i need and got my photos done so i hope i have everything. I also have my marriage certificate so i guess this proves my name change legally for them. I am just hoping i have left enough time.
