My Town Looks So Run Down!

My town really could do with a makeover. It is said that the condition of the streets reflect the culture of its inhabitants. Society's reflection can be seen in how we treat our buildings and streets. Most cities find it difficult to keep the streets clean. The main reason is the irresponsibility of its citizens. Each person must be aware of his responsibility to keep his streets neat and tidy. He also has a duty to prevent others from dirtying it. Most of us look the other way if we happen to see somebody littering the street. We are afraid to interfere. We have lost our ability to scold others for doing something wrong. We think that it is the responsibility of the civic authorities to keep the streets clean. It is not right.

Now I don't let off the council either! When I look at the old buildings in my town, many are badly in need of stone restoration and general renovation work. It saddens me to think my council are wasting our money on frivilous nonsense much of the time when old buildings badly need some repair work to be carried out, not least our town hall!
