The Best Place in the World: My Place, My Pub, My Home

posted on 14 December 2011

My favorite bar is situated in Ireland. It used to be my meeting place with friends. When I first went there, I felt like I was entering another world, a world of magic where nothing is the same, a kind of fairy world. It enchanted me. I have been extremely lucky to be able to work in this bar. This was actually my first job ever. I still have so many memories about it. Memories I will never forget. Working there taught me so many things. I first learned to master the language, enrich my social skills, and of course learn to meet the people and the Irish culture. This place was just magical. After finding another job, it became my hanging out place. I knew everybody. Every time I would go there, it felt like going home with my family. A feeling I had nowhere else. Unfortunately I had to leave the country, but going back there every now and then, makes me feel home again. The people are still the same, the atmosphere is as warm as ever, and the welcome is always there! I miss this place like I miss my own home. This pub was the only place in town that didn't have a TV, and didn't have all the usual beers you find in any Irish pub, it didn't even have placemats to rest your drink on - but it was really special. This way, it encouraged people to communicate more with each other, and the crowd would be kind of selective. You wouldn't go there just to watch football and have a beer, but to meet the people, have a good chat and a special beer. This was really a unique place. A place that will stay in my heart forever!

A Favourite Pub Not Far From My House

Pubs - we all have our favourites. Well I got a bit further - I like "collecting" them. I mean, I like visiting them and adding them to my collection of memories. From pubs on the A53 in the UK (fond memories!) to the downtown bars of Brisbane in Australia, I have a lot of memories - some blurry, some rather clear, and well...perhaps some that have yet to emerge to my conscious mind! My favorite bar is a place where you walk into and automatically feel welcomed. You are instantly greeted by the bartender and the owner. He gives the bar a very relaxed atmosphere. You will not see young crazy people here acting completely obnoxious. Everyone respects everyone. They offer great prices on their alcohol along with great food that gives bar food a whole new meaning. There are slot machines that people can enjoy while they are listening to music and just hanging out. Also if you are interested in sports they have so many different tvs in which you can view certain games on. The busiest times they have are when there are Steeler games or Penguin games. Everyone loves to go out there and support their home team together. The greatest thing is that every night they are having some kind of special. It is easily affordable and you can go there to interact with your friends and enjoy your time out. Especially if you have had a long day. It is a great opportunity to just escape some of your reality.

Why tea parties are a favorite pass time activity for ladies

My grandmother and her friends are the kind of people whom you would term as lovers of tea. This is because they made it a habit that every week they met at least twice so that they can enjoy some freshly brewed afternoon tea and freshly home made scones that were hot from the oven. During this tea sessions they had, my grandmother or whoever was hosting the tea party would take out their vintage crockery, that were made of exclusive china and silver ware alike, and has very unique and beautiful designs and the colors of the vintage crockery would not necessarily match but still look really beautiful and elegant. In fact I used to call them elegant tea parties. Whilst drinking their, the beautiful wise ladies my grandmother included, would not necessarily gossip but they called it catching each other up about the happenings of the society, who did what, why they did what they did, and what happened to them after that and of-course my grandmother and her friends would not fail to give a personal opinion to the happenings.
