It is true. I really dislike my garden. It is an awful garden, having just two stupid looking plants and with very little dry grass. I wish I can remove it from my house because in the evening every child and adult of my house is there, and the calm and quietness which I wanted evaporates with all this sound of humanity. But the most irritating thing is my mothers love for this garden. She is always busy in taking care of it, even buying special B-dry footwear for the wetter, winter months. And just because of her keen interest, I tried to convince myself to buy some plants, but the prices of the plants enforced me to remain unconvinced. So I have to bear all the unbearable things and activities related to this garden. I can't solve it, waiting and praying to God to help to get rid of this garden or to give me so much money that I can bring pleasure for my Mother in the form of plants. |

My house is a two story house with five bedrooms and only one bathroom, has a kitchen, dining room, living room, and a basement. The basement is dirty and dusty. The foundation is cement, which has a few cracks here and there. Every room within my house has hardwood flooring, and the walls are all painted a boring beige. Now there are a lot of things that I would like to change about my house. Firstly, I would like to remodel the current bathroom, I would also like to add an additional master bathroom with a jet bath tub and full shower. I would removed all of the hardwood flooring and replace it all with blue carpeting, add in some light curtains with velcro cable ties as fasteners. And I would also prime and paint every room with a sky blue color. I believe that I would completely remodel the basement into a game room, I would add dry walling and paint it black. I would also make this be the only room in the house with a hardwood floor. I would include a pool table, a wrap around bar and shelves to stock beverages. and I would also include a bowling lane. I would like to put central air through out the entire house, and I would put an in ground pool outside. |

The biggest clean up operation is when we decided to tackle my mother in law’s basement for a garage sale. There was stuff from the 1970s in this basement. So much dust formed over the years, we had to wear masks.
However, having worked for tank cleaning services in the past, I was ready, willing and able.
We removed hundreds of boxes filled with old toys, old children clothes and random stuff that have not been used in years. Some things were not saleable, so we tried donating those items to a local charity. We also found many magazines and books that were very outdated and had to recycle boxes of stuff that week. After all the boxes were removed, we had to move the old large furniture to sell for the garage sale. It was all very large and very heavy. But all these old pieces were very well made and still in good condition for sale. After those large items were cleared out of the basement, we had to vacuum and sanitize the whole basement. We discovered a whole kitchen in the basement after the clean up that we forgot even existed in the first place. It was well worth the days of work, the garage sale was a big success. The 8 trips to the salvation army in two cars was very rewarding as well. |

Are you ready for hot days, cool drinks, and lounging outside by a pool? It's that time of year again - summer! Summer is personally my favorite season of the year. I love the feel of the sun on my skin on lovely summer days, while I'm working outside in my garden. I get extra energy in the summer months - you'll often see me outdoors with a masonry saw or some other DIY tool, working on my latest project.
I'm also filled with memories of summer vacation during school, during which I could ride down the the road on my bike with no worries whatsoever. Now I have more responsibilities, but coming home from work in the evening is still filled with those carefree feelings of childhood. Sitting by the pool and sipping a cold, home-brewed sweet tea, while watching the sun begin to set erases any stress from the long work day, and makes me look forward to the next evening. I don't know if this is normal, but I think that I look forward to summer more than my children! |

How difficult is it to use a rubbish bin? Well, it does seem for most of today’s youth the answer is very difficult. Why can’t people just dispose of their rubbish in the correct manner and have some respect for the area in which they live. For me it seems to be a problem of upbringing. Countless times I have seen youngsters just open up a packet of crisps or sweets eat the contents and then just blindly throw the wrapper on the floor. They just don’t seem to care about it and do it without even thinking that it might upset other people that have to walk that street later. They just don’t care and that saddens me, It has to be rooted in their upbringing. It seems we always delegate responsibility to authorities - we wait for the council's power cleaners to clean up after us, as well as their garbage trucks. When my children were growing up I instilled in them a sense of pride in their appearance and a respect for others which sadly seems lacking in a lot of people these days. If only all parents could explain that littering is unacceptable and it takes such a little effort to keep things tidy then we could all live in a clean and healthy environment. I’ve lost count of the times that I have corrected idiots that persist in littering. From the child I lambasted for throwing his wrapper on the floor whilst staring at a rubbish bin just yards away to the adult who threw his apple core out of his open car window at a gas station. He was so shocked and upset when I picked it up and gave it back to him that he immediately got out of his car and put it in the bin which was provided. Perhaps if more people embarrassed these thoughtless few into realising that their behaviour is unacceptable then we might have tidier streets. Let’s hope that things will change for the better in the future if we have the correct education of our young. Unfortunately I don’t hold out much hope. |

My town really could do with a makeover. It is said that the condition of the streets reflect the culture of its inhabitants. Society's reflection can be seen in how we treat our buildings and streets. Most cities find it difficult to keep the streets clean. The main reason is the irresponsibility of its citizens. Each person must be aware of his responsibility to keep his streets neat and tidy. He also has a duty to prevent others from dirtying it. Most of us look the other way if we happen to see somebody littering the street. We are afraid to interfere. We have lost our ability to scold others for doing something wrong. We think that it is the responsibility of the civic authorities to keep the streets clean. It is not right.
Now I don't let off the council either! When I look at the old buildings in my town, many are badly in need of stone restoration and general renovation work. It saddens me to think my council are wasting our money on frivilous nonsense much of the time when old buildings badly need some repair work to be carried out, not least our town hall! |

Safety in our working areas is the responsibility of our employers. In case I was working in a hospital for instance, I should get safety garments from my employer before going to my working station. Same to those working in factories. In fact, factories are the more dangerous working zones and Manufacturing Safety should always be maintained especially for those who are using very dangerous chemicals or equipments to manufacture. Employers should also come up with safety regulations for their employees' working zones and present them to these employees in writing so that employees can know what to do in order to remain safe as they work. Employees too are partly responsible for their safety because they may choose to ignore the safety measures by their employers, and in case of such a situation then the employee will be responsible if anything happens even though he was working. For example those who hurry on slippery floors even when they have been warned should not blame the management in case they fall and hurt themselves. Its always good to ensure that you are safe as you work. |
